It's by all means the single greatest film of the series excluding the original 1978 movie. The film actually has some pretty shocking moments, it's very bloody, and it has some pretty jump-worthy scenes. I will say, without going into detail or spoilers, there are a few good jump scares. Prepare yourselves. Also, its representation and overall execution of the Michael Myers character is the best since the original movie, I must admit.
Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie for the first time since the god-awful Halloween Resurrection. This new Halloween film is basically a continuation of the original, whilst ignoring its sequels. Basically, the others have been erased. I don't moan too much there, they're all either decent, meh or bad. I like Halloween I and II, H20 and the new one from 2018. The first Rob Zombie film wasn't too bad; it was fine.
It's eerie and it has the intense, dark atmosphere and amazing theme score. The film wasn't made on a massive budget but it looks pretty good throughout and the acting for the most part, if I'm honest, isn't bad. It's consistently good, especially from that of Jamie Lee Curtis. Michael Myers is of course the centrepiece and core character of the film, and it's my favourite portrayal since 1978.
Some scenes were pretty goofy and funny, somewhat unintentionally, but they're actually pretty funny if I'm honest. It's only a few moments and scenes, though, nothing is overdone.
Overall, the second best of the Halloween film series. It was good seeing it in cinemas at night time. It added to the overall atmosphere and tone of the film itself. 8.4/10.
